My memories of previous Australia Days are somewhat blurry... Australia Day 2011 was two days of partying non-stop and doing things I'd never normally do. Such fun!
One thing I love about Australia is that they know how to party and embrace their patriotism. Been here in New Zealand Kiwis don’t seem to embrace it the same with their equivalent, Waitangi Day.
New Zealand seemed to get its mojo (patriotism) back when the rugby world cup was on, since then there mojo seems to have gone back in the box, it’s unfortunate. But then that is the nature of the Kiwi (bird) to go underground. (I’m sure that’s not a reflection of every person in N.Z)
Although been stuck here in N.Z, I can do the things that I’d be normally doing at home. This would include lots of beer, vodka punch, BBQ, chips and dips. And music would include Kiss FM and Tripple J Hottest 100, up loud!
These seem the simplest in ingredients but they sure do make a great day at the beach with good mates, at the end of the day that’s what life is all about – hanging out with your friends and family.
I don’t about you, but I’m having Australia Day in New Zealand, I’ll be back in two days time.
Here’s to Australia Day!
